Taylor Atwood on Track for Big Performance
Taylor Atwood is considered one of the best 74KG powerlifters on the planet, but he took to the platform as an 83KG competitor at the 2024 Powerlifting America’s Scary Strong 3 meet, where he totaled 830 kilograms, including a massive 342.5-kilogram deadlift — a new personal best.
Squat Training
Atwood has his current sights set on the 2025 Powerlifting America Raw Nationals on April 3-6, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. Atwood gave a glimpse of his squat training. Post warm-up, Atwood opens with four lighter squat sets, working up to a top weight of 225 kilograms, which he performed three sets of triples with, followed by a set of six.
Best Competition Squat
Atwood’s best competition squat is 302.5 kilograms, achieved at the 2021 USAPL Raw Nationals. Atwood expressed that he was pleased with his work under the bar in the lead up to his return to the platform.
Accessory Work
The three-time IPF world champion performed his accessory work, including belt squats for the quadriceps and two sets of standing leg curls per leg to target his hamstrings. He finished on the adductor machine.
Return to Competition
