The Big Picture: Men’s Action Heats Up at 2025 TYR Wodapalooza
Not to be outdone by the ladies on Saturday at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza, the men put on a show of their own with plenty of powerhouse teams. As the sun warmed up the barbells on the Dymatize Lifting Stage, the guys took to the platforms with a lovely Miami Breeze blowing through the venue.
Event 1: Overhead Squat
The earlier heats shined bright, with Invictus Miami (Carlos Labarthe, Phill Muscarella, and Roldan Goldbaum) putting up the time to beat in the first heat at just under four minutes. However, that time did not last long. Los Campesinos (Simon Gelinas, Felix-Antoine Lemay, and Andre-Felix Martin) and Team We Step on Legos (Cameron Doyle, Noah Wilson, and Tom Sleigh) went rep for rep, with Legos edging out Los Campesinos by close to one second.
Some familiar faces graced the teams in the final heat, with two CrossFit Games champions, Jeff Adler (Team PJ’s with Patrick Vellner and Jayson Hopper) and Justin Medeiros (Team GOWOD with Dallin Pepper and Willy Georges).
Event 2: Block Party
After watching the women work together in this transition-heavy event, the men took to the Reign Sandbox. It was crowded for the men on the synchro burpees over the box, but that was no issue for Invictus Miami, who won the first heat of two. The final heat of men seemed to learn by watching other athletes navigate the equipment, and transitions were slightly more streamlined. It was a three-horse race for most of the final heat, with The Boys (Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer), Team GOWOD, and Mayhem Tres Leches going blow for blow. It was a race to the finish mat, with The Boys taking the win.
Event 3: Worm Up, Hands Down
If it seemed like the ladies’ teams were fast, the men really had their foot on the gas. Teamwork was paramount, as several teams in earlier heats lost valuable time on the worm due to confusion. Like their female counterparts, The Norwegian Kriger Boys (Benjamin Boujar, Andreas Timenes, and Andreas Opsahl) put up a blistering time in an earlier heat that left teams chasing. Although Team Overskag won the second heat, it was not fast enough to beat Kriger.
The Big Picture
At the halfway point, The Boys are back, boasting two first-place finishes on Saturday, giving them 294 points heading into the final day of competition. It is a close race behind them, with Mayhem Tres Leches 14 points back (282) and Team GOWOD and PJ’s tied at 276. Get ready for three events on Sunday and what will no doubt be some incredibly close races.

The men’s competition at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza has been nothing short of thrilling, with powerhouse teams vying for the top spot. With two events complete and one more day to go, anything can happen. Will The Boys maintain their lead, or will one of the other top teams make a push for the top?
