Reebok Launches Nano X5

After 15 Years, Reebok’s Nano Line Continues to Innovate

After 15 years, the Reebok Nano line is still innovating.

Reebok just announced a newly designed Nano X5 that combines cutting-edge technology with the iconic style and comfort that has been a trademark of the Nano shoe line for 15 years.

  • Reebok, a former title sponsor of the CrossFit Games, is known for its Nano CrossFit training shoes that have been worn by athletes all over the globe. And after plenty of improvements and iterations, they are still as popular as ever.

The new Nano X5 features a DualResponse midsole and decoupled MetaSplit outsole to enhance performance and provide support throughout any type of workout, whether it’s a heavy lift or a conditioning session.

The details: Tal Short, the product director at Reebok, told us that inspiration for the new shoe comes from earlier versions and customer feedback.

  • “The latest model truly pays homage to the iterations that came before it, taking [lessons] and some fan-favorite features to create the latest Official Shoe of Fitness that sets a new industry standard,” Short said.

The demands from the CrossFit community have evolved from simply finding a shoe for performance to wanting a shoe that can perform under the intense pressure of a WOD while also being comfortable and runnable.

  • Other features of the new Nano X5 are performance comfort collars and a premium Flexweave upper that helps with protection, comfort, and breathability. They have a seven-millimeter drop in the sole and weigh 12 ounces.

Remind me: In the early days of CrossFit, Reebok Nanos were the only CrossFit training shoes. While more brands have entered the space in recent years, Reebok continues to be a popular choice for the sport.

  • “We’ve stayed relevant through our continued dedication to provide athletes with what they’re looking for — the sport has evolved, and so has the Nano franchise to give athletes the most elite training shoe on the market,” Short said.

The bottom line: The Nano X5s will officially be available on January 24, 2025, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Reebok’s entry into the sport of CrossFit.

  • The shoes start at $140 USD MSRP and will be offered in a variety of unisex and women’s launch colorways, with additional product offerings throughout the year.
