Louisiana High School Student Dwayne Coleman Squats 408 Kilograms (900 Pounds) Equipped in Powerlifting Meet

Dwayne Coleman of Slidell, LA, has develop into the talk of the strength sports world after he squatted 408 kilograms (900 kilos) equipped in a powerlifting meet to interrupt his state’s all-time record within the lift. He went on to say the overall record for super-heavyweights within the state.

Coleman’s efforts occurred on the 2024 Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Powerlifting State Championships in Lafayette, LA, on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Representing Salmen High School, Coleman bench pressed 226.7 kilograms (500 kilos) and pulled 285.7 kilograms (630 kilos) within the deadlift for a complete of 920.5 kilograms (2,030 kilos). Coleman weighed in for the meet at 209.5 kilograms (462 kilos). He wore a squat suit and knee wraps for the lift. He positioned the barbell on his shoulders and removed it from the squat rack. He stepped back to take his position with the load, using a moderate foot stance.

Upon the judge’s command, Coleman lowered into the opening and immediately rose with the load, yelling through the ascent, which took roughly three seconds. The official gave the rack command once Coleman returned to the standing position. The lift was approved, and the gang cheered for Coleman’s efforts.

Aside from winning the Division II state superheavyweight championship, Coleman was bestowed the Outstanding Lifter award. At the time of this text’s publication, there isn’t any word on whether Coleman will proceed to pursue competitive powerlifting after graduating. Still, the highschool senior showed potential to make a giant mark on the game if he competes on sanctioned platforms in the longer term.
