Please Note: Apple cider vinegar can have interactions with certain medications, including diuretics and insulin. Please consult with a medical professional before consuming this mixture if you are taking any prescription medications.

Before You Get Started

  • If you can, use raw, local honey in your apple cider vinegar shot! Raw honey is less processed, so it retains more nutrients, making it a great source of antioxidants and antibacterial & antifungal properties. honey is made by local bees using local pollen – which means it can help lessen your body’s response to local allergens. Plus you’re supporting local bee farmers!
  • Don’t just grab any old apple cider vinegar for your ACVH elixir. Ideally you want to use an apple cider vinegar that contains . You’ll find “The Mother” in ACV that’s raw and unfiltered – look for opaque, cloudy strands floating in the liquid. That substance is made up of yeast and probiotics, and it’s believed to be good for gut health and the immune system. Consuming it is safe, but if it’s too unappealing, you can opt for motherless ACV instead.

How to Make This Recipe

Mix Your Base.

Whisk the warm – NOT boiling – water and honey together until they’re fully combined.

Add the rest.

Add apple cider vinegar (preferably with “the Mother”!) and cinnamon to the thinned honey and whisk everything together.

If the prepared shot is too thick for your liking, add up to 3 additional tablespoons of warm water. Whisk well!

What I Love About This Recipe

  • Along with my Immune System Booster Shot Recipe, this apple cider vinegar and honey elixir is one of my go-to, ingredients-always-on-hand recipes whenever the seasons change. That’s super easy to do, of course, because you only need 3 ingredients (plus a little water).
  • Seriously, though. The first sniffle, I whip one of these bad boys up and let it work its magic. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but after a day or two with one of these potions, I’m feeling good as new! Now, don’t get me wrong – this is a replacement for medical care, medication, or just taking care of yourself in general. I am a medical professional, nor do I pretend to be one on the internet… or anywhere else.
  • Even without the potential health benefits, a shot made with apple cider vinegar, honey, and cinnamon just tastes really good. The warm water makes the whole drink warm, which is especially nice if you’ve got a sore throat or it’s just a chilly morning.

Recipe Variations

  • ACVH Toddy: If you want a boozy apple cider vinegar honey shot, add 1-2 tablespoons of whiskey or bourbon and a dash of lemon juice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will this apple cider vinegar honey shot keep?

It tastes best (and is most effective) when it’s consumed immediately after preparation, but you make it in advance. Refrigerate the shot in an airtight container and consume within 5 days of preparation. Stir or shake the mixture well before consuming.

How many apple cider vinegar and honey shots can I consume in one day?

I don’t recommend more than one of these shots per day. I also don’t recommend consuming them daily for an extended amount of time. Consuming large amounts of apple cider vinegar can lead to nausea, diarrhea, and heartburn, and ACV can interact with some medications. Please consult a medical professional if you have any concerns or if your symptoms persist.
