Reigning International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Champion in the Women’s 84KG class Amanda Lawrence is amidst her prep to compete in Sheffield, England, at the 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships on Jan. 26, 2025.
Lawrence finished 11th among the 12 competitors in the 2024 Sheffield despite setting new IPF records in the squat (249.5 kilograms) and total (647 kilograms). The Sheffield notoriously ranks athletes across weight classes.
Lawrence shared a new raw deadlift almost-triple PR of 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds) on January 9, 2025. She set up in a sumo stance with chalked-up hands and only a lifting belt for equipment. She hoisted her first pull off the floor with a rounded back to a full lockout, though it did not appear without difficulty. She reran the first rep via her second rep; they were nearly indistinguishable.
Per her caption, Lawrence had to set the barbell down to rechalk before the third rep. Her double was performed clean, and if she had converted the third rep without releasing the bar, it would have been a triple. Lawrence still touted the set as a triple for her training prep—it’s tough to argue with the current IPF world record deadlift holder.
Lawrence set the IPF world record deadlift of 268.5 kilograms at the 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
Lawrence will compete against the following athletes in Sheffield at the end of January:
