So,
making yourself comfortable
lying down in your bed
or on the ground,
or wherever you may be comfortable,
perhaps putting a pillow of some sort under your knees.
Allowing your eyes to shut
and your body to simply melt into the ground or the bed,
and allowing your attention to softly
come into the body and to the flowing of the breath.
Experiencing the sense of the body as an entire,
simply lying here,
prolonged and respiratory.
When you are feeling ready,
picturing in your mind’s eye
the image of a lake,
perhaps a lake that you realize well and frequent,
or one that you just’ve seen in a photograph,
or an imaginary lake, for that matter.
Just seeing when you can bring that image into vivid focus in your mind’s eye.
Noticing the way it’s an prolonged body of water
held in a depression within the earth’s surface,
and maybe fed by a spring or a stream.
If you watch and observe
the lake fastidiously,
you’ll notice that it’s at all times changing,
and yet it’s also at all times itself.
It changes because the sun moves across the sky.
The light is reflected off the water in other ways.
It changes depending on the weather.
Sometimes,
on very calm days,
the surface may be like glass
and reflect virtually all the things with great precision that comes by,
clouds,
birds,
the trees
that may surround
the lake,
the sun
because it makes its journey across the sky,
and for that matter,
the moon
and the celebrities at night.
