Begin in either a seated posture, or lying down
Close the eyes and breathe slowly and evenly out and in through the nose
Use awareness of the breath to anchor you on this present moment
Follow the breath for 3 long, patient inhales,
And three long patient exhales
And now notice the body itself
Beginning at the highest of the top
Notice the face, the back of the top
The entire head
Acknowledge all that’s happening in the top without delay
Feel the breath, moving out and in through the nose
Recognize the function of the eyes, at the same time as they’re closed
Aware of the function of the ears
The mouth
And in fact, the mind that is sensible of all of it
Notice how much, and the way often, you’ve benefited
From eyes, ears, mouth and nose
How much, and the way often, you’ve benefited
From the functionality of this capable mind
Recognize too, that not everyone can see, hear, smell, taste,
Or even think and cognate in the identical way that you just do
Let that awareness assist you feel right into a deep, heartfelt sense of gratitude
Feel and send because of the eyes, ears, nose and mouth
Send because of the mind
Be present with this awareness of gratitude for all of the ways
That all of the parts of the face and head are serving and protecting you
And then shift awareness all the way down to the neck and the throat
Open to the attention of gratitude
For your voice, your ability to talk, swallow, and be well fed
Drop all the way down to awareness of the shoulders
And let gratitude spread
As you turn into more aware of the functioning of the arms
Your ability to maneuver, to achieve for things
To hug and to carry
