A lady who once weighed 32 stone – becoming so heavy her bathroom scales couldn’t measure her – has lost half her body weight through gastric bypass surgery.

Anastasia Morris, 32, from Llanymynech, Wales, said foods like pizza and ‘large cheesy chips’ became her ‘comfort’ after having surprise baby, Euan, now 12, when she was 19.

She admitted to being a ‘chubby kid’ but said her weight skyrocketed in her late teens where she began consuming 10,000 calories a day, and ate out or ordered takeaways six nights per week.

By August 2023, Anastasia tipped the scales at thirty first 13lbs – the very best weight her bathroom scales could record. And after reaching a size 36 – she decided to splash out £17,500 on gastric bypass surgery.

Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure during which surgeons reroute the intestine to a small stomach pouch which shrinks the stomach.

Since her surgery she's managed to lose a commendable 11 stone

Anastasia, a logistics administrative assistant, has now lost a staggering 11st 10lbs in only nine months and weighs 19 stone. She said her only regret is just not having the surgery sooner.

‘Growing up, food was my comfort – I’d have dinner with my family then sneak out to the chippy and have a second meal’, said Anastasia.

‘My mum put me on a great deal of diets – Slimming World, SlimFast, Weight Watchers – but I at all times put the burden back on.

‘After I moved out, I didn’t realise what number of calories I used to be consuming. I’d at all times be pondering “what can I eat next?” and after I had my son the burden continued to creep up’.

Anastasia said added motivation to drop extra pounds got here after she was prevented from accessing rides at theme parks.

‘It got to the purpose I could barely walk – I used to be too big for theme park rides and couldn’t sit in booth seats at restaurants’ explained Anastasia.

‘I realised I used to be existing, but not living. Now people see me and do not even recognise me.

‘I can go on day trips with my family and walk for miles – my only regret is that I didn’t get the surgery sooner’.

Anastasia was at all times the biggest in her family and despite weight-reduction plan she could never keep the burden off.

When she moved out at age 17 she took the chance to eat whatever, and as much, as she wanted.

She and her husband, Daniel, 35, would enjoy Nandos, Frankie and Benny’s, and Chinese takeaways six nights per week.

Then she would gorge on snacks late at night – meaning she would eat as much as 10,000 calories some days.

She said: ‘We had an enormous social life and going out for dinner has at all times been certainly one of my favourite things.

‘I’d skip breakfast and have a meal deal for lunch before an enormous tea. Then I’d have a full-sized chocolate bar and an enormous bag of crisps or Haribos in bed’.

At this point the mum said she had ‘lost the power’ to feel ‘full’.

After having her son at 19, Anastasia’s eating habits continued and her weight ballooned further.

Now a size 36, she could only buy clothes from specialist shops – becoming so big she could barely walk or do anything she enjoyed.

She also avoided exercise and movements similar to walking each time she could.

‘If I used to be going somewhere I’d attempt to work out how much walking or standing could be involved’ said Anastasia.

‘I would not need to do things like go to the zoo or an escape room. I would not need to go to the beach because if I sat down, I would not have the option to get back up again.

‘I hadn’t been on a theme park ride since I used to be 15. My son would at all times need to go on along with his dad’.

One day, after her weight exceeded 32 stone and her bathroom scales couldn’t record it, she decided ‘enough was enough’.

She arrange a monthly payment plan and booked in for £17,500 gastric bypass surgery.

The surgery involved making Anastasia’s stomach smaller and bypassing a part of the intestines so she will feel full after eating smaller amounts of food.

The mum was made to go on a seven-week mandatory food regimen of calorie-controlled milkshakes to organize her for the surgery. She went under the knife on August 1, 2023.

She lost 3st 7lbs in the primary month, and has now lost a staggering 11st 10lbs in only nine months.

Anastasia currently weighs 19st 10lbs and has gone right down to a size 22. She also can weigh herself on her bathroom scale with ease.

She is hoping to lose one other 9st 10lbs to succeed in her goal weight of 10 stone.

Right after the surgery Anastasia began eating solid foods again, but only in tiny amounts.

She explained: ‘You can eat more as you heal but even now, I can only eat just a few forkfuls of pasta or two chicken nuggets before I feel full.

‘Carbs [carbohydrates] are too filling. It kills me not having the ability to have bread – however it’s not value it’.

While she plans to lose more weight, she is already feeling the advantages, most especially not having the ability to eat ‘rubbish’ anymore.

‘All I ever wanted was to buy in normal clothes shops and go on a theme park ride with my son.

‘Now I can try this. We went to Disneyland in April and I walked around all day and went on every ride with my son.

‘I haven’t got the constant anxiety that I won’t fit within the seat or wondering if my chair will break underneath me any more.

‘I do miss food but I can not physically eat rubbish any more and it’s value it for a way I feel now.

‘I feel and appear so significantly better and I’m so proud. My only regret is just not doing this ten years ago’.
