How is strongman scored?

First place can earn as many points as there are competitors. In the Qualifying stage, you possibly can earn a maximum of six points (since six athletes are in each group). First place gets six points; second gets five, and so forth. In the Finals, where there might be 10 competitors in total, first place gets 10 points; second gets nine; third gets eight, and so forth.

In the event of a tie, points are split. If two athletes tie for second, you’d add up the second and third-place points and divide by two. So, within the WSM Finals, two athletes who tie for second earn 8.5 points each (nine plus eight divided by two).
