Want to learn a magic trick? This easy air fryer steak recipe is strictly that! Thanks to the air fryer, you possibly can have a juicy, perfectly medium-rare steak in as little as 12 minutes. It’s totally foolproof and splendidly hands-off, with a stunning crust and wealthy herb butter that may absolutely wow your dinner guests.
♨️ What Makes This Recipe So Good
- I like a very good grilled steak or sous vide steak, but when I need a wonderfully juicy steak with principally zero effort? It’s straight to the air fryer for me. Honestly, the air fryer makes probably the greatest steaks I’ve ever eaten, imagine it or not. Super juicy, beautifully tender, and gorgeously medium-rare in principally quarter-hour? I used to be blown away the primary time I attempted it.
- The air fryer method works for any kind of steak! I used sirloin for this recipe, but you need to use whichever cut is your favorite.
- The easy homemade herb butter is a multi-purpose favorite in my house, and it compliments these delicious steaks well. I wish to make up a big stick of compound butter every couple of weeks so I’ve got it available for whatever I’d find yourself cooking – steak, chicken, veggies, it really works for the whole lot!
Chef’s Tips
- I also recommend preheating your air fryer – it just ensures the accuracy of the timing and helps the whole lot cook evenly. Here, the preheated air fryer starts cooking the steaks as soon as you place them in the recent air fryer basket. That easy little move helps create a beautifully crisp crust on the surface of the steaks. Absolutely price it.
- Don’t depend on your eyes or your intuition and even the clock to know when your air fryer steaks are perfectly cooked. I mean, you can. But for those who actually need accurate results, use an internal meat thermometer. All air fryers behave otherwise, so my steaks that cooked to medium-rare in 7 minutes might need 9 or 10 minutes in your air fryer. Steaks vary in size and thickness, too, which will even affect the cook times. A meat thermometer negates all of those little variables and lets you recognize exactly what’s happening inside your food.
- Let the steaks rest after they arrive out of the air fryer. It’s an easy step that makes an enormous difference. For one thing, the residual heat keeps cooking the steaks as they rest, bringing them as much as your selected level of “done” inside. Not only that, but letting them rest locks in all of the juices, allowing those juices to redistribute throughout the steaks because the muscles within the steaks chill out. The result? Much juicier, more-tender meat than for those who served it immediately.

- Make it Paleo/Whole30: Replace the butter with ghee.
