Colson Smith has been praised by Celebrity Big Brother viewers for opening up about his struggles with food during Monday’s episode.
The Coronation Street actor, 25, has lost around 10 stone since 2020 after discovering a love of running in the course of the lockdown.
But in a candid confession to housemate Sharon Osbourne, Colson revealed that amid his weight reduction battle he used to starve himself and binge eat junk food – before deciding to overhaul his lifestyle.
‘I lost weight after I was 18 through quite a strict food plan and what I discovered was that I used to be gaining weight after which I’d attempt to food plan again,’ Colson said. ‘I would not eat for a day and a half. I’d just starve myself.’
‘Then I’d be that hungry…’ Colson, who plays Craig Tinker within the ITV soap, began to say, before Sharon added: ‘The floodgates would burst.’

Nodding in agreement, Colson admitted: ‘I used to drive to KFC and I used to order three meals.
‘Then I’d hate myself so I would not eat again for a day and a half and it will be that for months and months and months.’
Sharon, who has confessed she lost ‘an excessive amount of’ weight using the diabetic drug Ozempic, replied: ‘A rollercoaster. You know individuals who haven’t got to fret about their weight, they do not know how hard it’s… it is a killer.’
Colson went on to praise his girlfriend for supporting him through his struggle, and added: ‘I’m glad that I’ve done what I’ve done the way in which I’ve done it, and I’ve the extent of control that I got with it because I actually have a discipline and I also understand myself.’
CBB viewers were moved by Colson’s confession, and applauded him for having the courage to talk out.
‘It’s unusual to listen to a person speaking about an eating disorder or battling a food addiction, kudos to Colson for sharing his story,’ one person said on X, formerly Twitter.
Another wrote: ‘Colson talking about his weight and eating issues is so essential. It’s great that he has felt comfortable enough to open up about his struggles.’

In an interview with Runner’s World in 2021, Colson previously described his eating habits before his lifestyle switch as ‘self-harming’.
Colson said: ‘That fat kid is the child that I’ve checked out day-after-day within the mirror and I still see him now.
‘It’s a battle I’m probably going to hold with me for the remainder of my life. You don’t shrug off that sort of thing so easily.
‘But I’m not going to take an enormous pay cheque to carry up a pair of my old trousers. I would like to inform the story my way.’
During the conversation with Colson, Sharon, 71, who has faced criticism over her slimmed down take care of using the drug which is supposed for diabetes, described shedding pounds as a ‘killer’.
In the most recent episode, the music manager claimed individuals who needn’t shed weight have ‘no idea what it’s like’ to drop the kilos.

The TV personality has been open about using the burden loss drug Ozempic, which is used to treat diabetes.
However, the music manager said she has since struggled to place weight on after shedding the kilos using the drug.
Speaking on Loose Women earlier this yr, she said: ‘I do not regret it. Everything with weight with me was, “I would like it now.”
‘The injections that I used to be on worked, however it just seems that now I am unable to put anything on really.’
